STATEMENT ON THE CRISIS IN UKRAINE

The Hellenic Association of Conference Interpreters (SYDISE), joining its voice to the International Federation of Translators (FIT) as a member association, as well as to that of Associations in other countries, expresses its solidarity, support and deep concern for the lives and working conditions of our colleagues both in Ukraine and in Russia, during what is a difficult time.
Interpreters and translators have always played a key role in connecting nations and in fostering peace, dialog and negotiation-based understanding and development, as recognized by the UN General Assembly on 24 May 2017 in UN Resolution A/RES/71/288).
Hopefully, under the current circumstances, dialog will become again instrumental in building understanding, flexibility and peace.
